A Typical Winter Day on the Farm ☃️

Winter on the farm can be especially challenging while raising animals, but it’s also rewarding and helps us to prepare for the coming year ahead.
A typical day for us might look like:
• Making sausage and perfecting new ones with partners like Ocean State Pepper Co.
• Keeping chickens and ducks - fed, watered, and laying those delicious eggs during the dark days of winter
• Giving our livestock guardian dogs lots of delicious raw meat and bones to keep their winter coats thick and healthy
• Ensuring pigs are cozy in their Hog Cabin - filled with leaves that keep them warm and provide compost in the spring
• Planning for next season - participating in conferences, improving systems, repairing equipment, and creating new opportunities to provide amazing food for our community
• Delivering our products and those of farmer friends to more homes around RI & southern Massachusetts even when we do get snow!
Most of all, it’s important for us to make time for the family to play in the snow. To have our kids working alongside us and learning what hard, honest work feels like and how to treat the land, our animals and community with love and respect.
Winter is all these things and more…and we love it.
