Meat Processing Manager

The Meat Processing Manager is a hands-on management position who is responsible for the following:

  • Managing 8-10 staff and working in our state inspected poultry processing facility - processing 800 birds per week (May-November) 600 turkeys (October)
  • Continued development and management of inventory systems of on-farm products and USDA processed meat 
  • Assisting with maintenance & servicing of meat processing equipment
  • Working collaboratively with Livestock Manager & Farm Manager/Owner
  • Implementing "lean" manufacturing methods in all aspects of processing
  • Prepared foods development in our licensed offsite commercial kitchen - sausage varieties, broth, soup, meat pies, etc...
  • Wholesale ordering & fulfillment
  • Documenting & control of processing/food costs
  • Works closely with farm accountant & office manager 
  • Utilizing produce grown in our on-farm garden for product production
  • Other tasks as required

Experience required:

  • 2+ years butchery/meat cutting and/or commercial kitchen environment
  • Good knife skills 
  • Ability to repair & maintain food processing equipment
  • A passion for farming and farm-to-table cooking
  • Work week Tuesday-Saturday
  • Experience managing staff
  • Knowledge of cooking and farming practices
  • Valid drivers license with no recent moving violations
  • Interest in continued development of prepared food product line with farm products
  • Able to lift 50 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally 
  • Organized and able to multitask 
  • A positive, go get ‘em attitude is a must
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Quickbooks

This is a full-time, salaried, year round position. Compensation determined by experience - salary range $42,000-$48,000 plus paid vacation, sick/family leave, monthly food budget and professional development funds. Interested applicants answer questions listed in the job posting and attach their resume and 3 professional references. Farm Hand

Pat's Pastured is seeking a full-time Farm Hand. This position will work in most aspects of our farm.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily watering, feeding and pasture rotation of broiler chickens, laying hens, ducks, turkeys, pigs and cattle
  • Management of chick brooder
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Product delivery
  • Assist with sales of products
  • Assisting with products processing, packaging & inventory
  • Building fence
  • General carpentry and construction
  • Weekly slaughter/processing of poultry on-farm

Qualifications:

  • Enjoys working with animals
  • Willingness to work long hours in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to learn
  • Valid drivers license — no moving violations
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Able to work independently or in a group
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on regular basis required
  • Good communication skills
  • Punctual and reliable

Typically this environment is subject to exposure to all outdoor weather. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Salary is $12–$14 per hour, commensurate with experience.
